Bullying does a lot of different things: it sucks, it hurts, but it also ends. But it doesn’t end because a bully says it does. It ends because you say it does. Bullying is nothing but insecure people recognizing their own lack of self-confidence in you. No one’s insecurities are ever going to just disappear, but there are ways to guard it.

Some people choose to guard their insecurity with sarcasm, muscles, or eye makeup. But the strongest possible defense is self-confidence: the knowledge that you are your own unique self, and the pride you have in that fact. Confidence doesn’t come overnight. Its not something you can wish for before you go to bed and take to school the next day. Confidence comes through getting hurt and rejected enough to understand how amazing you are.

You’re awesome. I promise.
